My Bucket List

So some people find it odd that at 20 I have a Bucket List. What can I say, I've always been a little odd (or as I say refreshingly unique - doesn't that sound better). This probably all started with my favorite movie, "A Walk to Remember." Jamie (the main female character) has a list of things she wants to do in her life. This got me thinking and there are somethings I really want to do in my life. This is the first time I've tried writing them down so they will probably be scattered and hard to follow - but that is how my mind works. Oh, and they are in no order what-so-ever.

1. Visit all the continents (but my fear of planes might stop this).
2. Go skydiving (again the plane thing might get in the way).
3. Have someone be completely and irrevocably in love with me and for me to feel the same about them, although I think every girl wants that. (I read entirely too many chick lit novels so I have become a hopeless romantic).
4. That being said I want to get married at Lehman (my home church). This is where my parents, sister, and cousin were all married.
5. Go to Hawaii. My sister and I have wanted to go there FOREVER so I think its only fitting we go together.
6. Be a mom.
7. Have my life be used for God's good.
8. Be the last link in the chain (if you went to the ACF retreat you'll understand).
9. Meet the Phillies players.
10. Sit in the diamond club during a game (preferably a playoff game)
11. Have a personal hairdresser do my hair everyday cause lets me honest, I can't straighten my hair for the life of me. (This is probably more of a wish).
12. Open a clinic with a sliding scale billing system for those who are uninsured. (If the Big Marty's in Hatboro stays on the market for the next, say 5 years, it would be PERFECT. Just saying).

I think that is all for now, but the list is growing everyday.

GLEE!

So I'm a tad bit of a Gleek. Okay, more than a tad. I'm obsessed. Is it pathetic that at almost 21 I get SO excited for Tuesday nights because Glee is on? Maybe. But I enjoy it. That being said, after watching this video of the Mini Warbler I thought it was ADORABLE. Seriously. Watch it. Now.

Tubing!

So my best friends (Danielle and Colleen) and I went tubing down the Delaware River this past weekend! Totally fun! Everyone should do it!!! It was a blast!! Anyway while we were leisurely floating down the river (doing the typical girl thing of tanning and talking about boys) when there was a sign that said to go left of this little "island" in the river. So we (and by "we" I mean Dan and Col cause honestly I can't swim ... at all) paddled over to the left of the island to find there was a boat with TONS of tubers around it and music blaring. Seriously like a party in the river. It turns out this is a restaurant!!! Okay restaurant might be a bit of an overstatement. More like a hot dog stand. But either way this was seriously in the middle of the river!!! You just paddle right over, order a hot dog, and continue lazily floating away. Seriously if I had thought to bring cash on the river with me (but honestly who thinks they will need cash in the middle of the river) I would have so gotten a hot dog! This was before Dan reminded me that it was probably really gross inside and not sanitary. Bummer ... but still neat!

Why Blog?

I've been contemplating starting a blog for a long time. I like the idea. Sharing bits of yourself to those few who actually take the time to read. I envision myself having a hilariously witty blog. Probably not gonna happy. Lets be honest here. It'll probably be more like things I find interesting or things God is doing in my life.

As for the name, Footprints in the Sand, it is after one of my favorite poems. I have it hanging in my room on a large poster as well as the cover of my journal. I love it because it reminds me that God is ALWAYS there for me, and in the worst of times it is him that will get me through. He is that good!!

Here's the poem:

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
